House for sale... living in a church??

You would almost not believe your eyes when you see this! Living in a church from 1870 in the Netherlands!
In 2009  St. Jakobuskerk in Utrecht was changed into a beautiful villa under the supervision of architects and designers.

The atmosphere, created by furniture and styling, is the work of Thomas Haukes from (springers)wonen. The result complements the strong design of the architect, creating a, extremely fine living space with original design.

The design perfectly takes into consideration the original style, all in the right proportions.

The original nave (14 meters high) is impressive, but the balanced design of the inner space ensures that a human dimension is not ignored.

The clear plainness that the Saint Jakobus knew at the time of architect Gerard Gerritsen still gives today the power to this monumental building.

The current owners were very careful in the renovation and refurbishment. The renowned Utrecht-based firm of ZECC Architects undertook the transformation from church to home with a great attention to light, space and functionality.

  1. hey Olik!
    Great blog!
But I found the designs not very colourful.
Aren't colours part of modern design?
    Un abrazo

  2. Absolutely lovely! But a hell to (keep it) clean! I agree with kevdetoulouse that a bit of color is missing. I recommend adding some pink ;)

  3. Hahaha, Thank you for your nice comments.
About the color: the new design is about what you find pretty. If you say that there should be color, than that IS the best design ever! ;)
You decide your color and... LIVE YOUR DREAM (house). hihi

Oh, yeah, almost forgot... Pink MUST be everywhere! hihi I agree
